Tekapo Whitewater Course

The Tekapo Whitewater Course was funded by ECNZ and built by Works Construction in the bed of the Tekapo River on behalf of the Tekapo Whitewater Trust, as partial mitigation of the loss of whitewater recreational amenity in the Waitaki region.

Course Protocol

Releases for the Tekapo Whitwater Course can only occur when there is a nominated Course Coordinator - that is, a responsible person who can arrange for collection of the key, opening and closing of the course gates and other tasks. It is vital that the Course Coordinator for a release contact Garry Gollan at Meridian Energy (garry.gollan@meridianenergy.co.nz, 021 408-199) at least two weeks prior to a release to get the necessary information regarding key pickup, responsibilities, etc. If you have questions, you can also contact Alan Hoffman (kirsty.hoffman@internet.co.nz). If Meridian have been unable to confirm arrangements with the Course Coordinator, the release will be cancelled.
