Mangahao release (CANCELLED)

Date:
Saturday, September 10, 2016 - 10:00 - 16:00
Section:
Mangahao Gorge

Updated 4:05pm, 7 September 2016 - CANCELLED

Unfortunately this weekends Mangahao release has been cancelled due to the amount of water present and forecast for the next 2 days. The bypass gate used for the release can only open when the water level in the reservoir is 80% of max. The forecast over the next 2 days indicates that will not be achieved despite generating 24/7.

Meanwhile, the 29 October release date remains in place and will proceed assuming the rain and catchment conditions change from current state.

Mangahao release

Date:

Organiser:
Trustpower/KCE & Nigel Parry
Section:
Mangahao Gorge

It will take a good 60-90 minutes to get the flow up to standard. Please do not put on before 9am. If you do this, you may end up catching up with the front of the increased flow (this has happened before).

If you are unfamiliar with this river be aware this is a wilderness run of about 18km. If anything happens it is a long and hard walk out and rescue can get complicated. So pack accordingly and be aware of your own skills and those in your crew.
