The likelihood of the Whakapapa release going ahead tomorrow is about 50:50. The flow at the moment is about 16 cumecs and receding. The forecast is for showers tonight, which may provide enough water for the release.
Saturday, 4 Sept:
The release will proceed today with about 16 cumecs.
This release will only proceed if there is more than 16 cumecs of natural flow in the river at the intake. If there isn't enough water, the following Sunday is a back-up date for the release.
