Mokihinui South Branch

have heard it is possible to walk in to the south branch of the mokihinui from Lyall. Looking at planning a trip to do so, any info would be appreciated especially re optimum flows

I've also walked the route. Track up Lyell is now cut up to saddle, then bush-bashing. South Mokihinui is great tramping river in normal flows - nifty route through gorge, and the mudstone section is indeed funky as well as fragile. Email me on quentin.duthie@gmail.com for more route info.

I've walked into south branch moki from Lyall, theres no track from the saddle but mostly I remember open bush. There was a really funky bedrock ledge section and a bouldery gorge nothing spectacular.
