kayaking in BC, Canada

Hi peeps. Just left NZ for a season's creeking in BC. Just wondering if anyone's got advice about who to contact to go boating with, where to buy kit (kayak and paddle), and if there's any good websites with message boards and river guides, like this rivers site?
Cheers,
Rob

Welsh Rob is a good bloke. Please make him welcome.

Hi Rob
Im a kiwi, based in seattle too.
Check out the new guide book from
http://brushymountainpublishing.com/rivergypsies/rivergypsies_guide.html
There is only one chapter on BC, but its a great guide.
See Amazon also for the
Whitewater in Southwest British Columbia by Claudia Schwab
But it does not cover many creeks
There are a few other Guidebooks, but they are hard to get
Canadian Rockies Whitewater by Stuart Smith

Hey Rob:
Not sure if you've already dialed in the network for BC or not, but if not, it may be worth posting up your questions at www.professorpaddle.com.
It's one of the more active message boards for Washington State, and there are quite a few folks who head north of the border to harvest the goods when the runs are in.
Might also be worth getting in touch with the guys who run "The Range Life" website, as they seem to have logged quite a bit of time there on the bread and butter runs, in addition to the runs that they've opened up on exploratory missions.
If everything in BC is blown out, there's lifetimes worth of whitewater between Bellingham and Portland, and folks on professorpaddle can get you in touch with folks in those drainages if you inquire.
All the best from Seattle,
-Jay
