South branch of Ashburton is a very nice paddle! GRADE 2 - 3
you only want to do it if its above 20 cumecs, the more water the better.
access, can get to river by using a 4WD track on Mt Arrowsmith Station permission needs to be given as they are a working farm. this is the easiest, having a driver is key as the shuttle would not be worth it.
or there is a 4WD track on the river right that starts at the take out and takes you half way there then you need to cross the river and walk the rest of the way! good option if you dont mind the walk.
Take out, Bucks Bridge.
