Whakamarino release

Date:
Sunday, May 13, 2018 - 09:00 - 15:00
Section:
Whakamarino

17cu.

Note: There is a large river-wide tree in the Whakamarino section, near the shingle pit 10 minutes walk above the power station. The river is fast flowing at this point and the tree is a must make portage. The run should be scouted before getting on and the getout marked (approx. 100 metres above tree) as there are no real eddies and heavy vegetation on the sides of the river, making exit difficult if you over-run the start of the portage. Paddle safe!

c/- Genesis Energy. "Invasive aquatic weeds are still a major threat for Central North Island Rivers. Genesis Energy realises that kayakers and rafters come from throughout the country to the recreational releases and could unintentionally carry aquatic weeds. We ask that kayakers and rafters please endeavour to thoroughly clean your gear with either a 5% salt or detergent solution, or dry all equipment for at least 48 hours before you intend to use it on the release days. In addition, wash–down stations will be available at the put in points on the recreational release days."
