River Rescue Certification Professional

RRC-Pro

Is an internationally recognized rescue certification that is written for professional boaters, by professional boaters. It is a fast-paced, scenario bases course designed to develop the ability to choose good actions when a river rescue is necessary. This course is for river guides and kayakers who spend a good portion of their lives on the river in a professional capacity, and therefore have a solid base of boating and rescue skills already. This intensive and comprehensive course takes professional certification to a whole new level.

I am looking for an instructor.

Hi Folks,

I am coming to NZ in September for about 6 months, from November I will be in the south Island.

20 years ago I had a good amount of white water experience in the Army and was on my way to becoming an instructor. Unfortunately that got cut short because of operations in Bosnia.
Since then I have done exclusively sea kayaking in the Caribbean.

Whilst I will be doing that in NZ too, I am looking to get some skills back on the whitewater and maybe even do some courses to give me official certifications.

Any takers for a River Safety Course

Hi

My partner and I want to do a river safety course and are keen to get another 2 people involved so that we can run a specific personalised course with New Zealand Kayak school (they need 4 people to run a course). Ideal dates would be around late March to mid April. We are probabably looking for course content somewhere between their level 1 and level 2 courses.

Would also be interested if anyone is running any safety course elsewhere. (we know there is one at the Hilary Outdoor centre in Feb, but typically we can't make the dates!!)

cheers

Hillary Outdoors (aka OPC) is running a River Safety 1 Course in March. The date is close and Hillary Outdoors needs to confirm numbers by Feb 10th, so visit the website (www.hillaryoutdoors.co.nz). You can book from there. Course is non-residential and the cost is only $250 for 2 days. There may be a subsidy available from Water safety NZ

Students will benefit from this intensive, hands-on course and will learn to use techniques and simple equipment to assess and perform river rescues.
