Tree on Mangles

Paddled the mangles (buller) the other day when it was really low. Came acress a tree on the lower section where there is usually a small move left to right as it narrows. Right at this point was a tree that would be OK at higher flow except if swimming, it was just showing at a very low flow. I didnt know it was there as never been on the river this low before. Dont know if this is the same for others.

Actually, last time i paddled the mangles, the pricks that keep the power
lines free from trees had just chopped these willows down right next to the
river and left branches (not small ones either) all over the place. The
next big water level will shift these downstream Is this standard
practise, or did they just leave their brains at home for the day?

It narrows between 2 rocks and drops into a pool?

There used to be a tree guarding the eddy on the LHS just before this
drop, but it sounds like it has moved. Is it dangerous? I have a chainsaw.
